Ever since last week’s conversation with Ben Fountain, I’ve been thinking.
One of the many things that remain:
After setting out on the quest to write many years ago and failing for a very (very) long time, Ben now shows up to actively engage with the uncertain and the unknown.
The TV show script that’s come his way.
The new novel.
He doesn’t know if he’ll be able to do these things, to pull them off.
But rather than looking backward for answers, trying to replicate past success, he shows up at the blank page to dance with the unknown.
And himself.
