Three weeks ago I smashed my sock-covered foot into a steel post with enough force to get an x-ray.

Probable fracture.

Uh, no, you can’t run.  If the bone displaces, it’s surgery.

Oh.

“You look at a lot of these?”

Back for the follow-up pics two weeks post, I’m playfully quizzing the doc.

Mangled and bruised, no break.

You can run.

In one more week.

I’m writing this having just returned.

It was slow and the distance short.

But Taylor’s “Shake It Off” (are you listening to her new stuff, btw?) was never more perfect.

Wishing you and yours a bountiful Thanksgiving in all the ways that matter most, and the time to take stock of – and take in — the things that bring you deep peace and joy, things like legs and lungs working in unison and the people who light you up walking into the room.
