Is a good guide.

Whether you’re considering what’s next inside your organization and the roles you might take on, or you’re wondering what’s next after your corporate career, curiosity is your friend.

Some suggestions for using curiosity as a tool for your path forward:

  • Commit to noticing when your curiosity is piqued. It might feel like a desire to further explore or know more, or it might show up as a question, ‘What’s that over there? or an internal tickle that says, ‘That sounds fun and interesting.’  No matter, curiosity draws us toward.  Tune in.
  • Understand that curiosity is a guide and not a plan. Trusting it can be uncomfortable, particularly for those in professions where precision (most all of you reading this) is necessary and rewarded.
  • But following our curiosity often leads us precisely, even if it’s to discover that the next stone in the path is leading us to another.
  • What we learn along the way, about what we like and don’t, about what fulfills us and doesn’t, about what fuels or drains us, is vital navigational information.
  • There are two good rules for using your curiosity meter: the first is to not self-edit, the second is to not judge.

When we think about what’s next, and try to envision it, we are often limited by what we know and see.

Curiosity expands both.

Exponentially.

One way to plan for life after corporate is to think about it in the margins, watch your runway grow ever shorter, and then try to find something(s) of interest after the door closes.

Another is to give yourself the gift of time to dream and explore and plan in an immersive program with a highly-curated group of peers who are asking similar questions about soul-nourishing work and creating fulfilling lives in the next chapter.

Come awaken dreams, stretch your thinking, get coaching directly from me tailored to your specific situation, find support and camaraderie among fellow travelers, enjoy gourmet meals, relax in beautiful surroundings, and, yes, make a plan.
