That’s exactly what’s supposed to happen.

This from Brad Wilson and Glen Tullman, said separately and in complete agreement, during our panel discussion at the Executive Forum’s Annual Event earlier this month.

This has stuck with me.

Profoundly.

Neither spoke from a place of anxiety or worry.

But simply to describe a requisite of leadership.

Calm waters do not mean all is well; they indicate you’ve missed something.

So:

Are you building yourself to be resilient in this way?  To wonder what’s going to go wrong rather than be derailed, surprised, or overwhelmed by it?

And are you building resilient teams populated with problem-solvers who complement your own skills and knowledge?  People who will pivot rather than panic?
