Talent not ambition.

That was the lead headline in a solicitation that I received for a workshop.

It indicates a choice.

I see it differently.

Ambition is not a bad thing.

It’s synergistic with talent.

Ambition is what we head toward, dream of, want for ourselves and the world.

Talent is the means by which we create it.

Ambition is the painting, talent the brush.

Make yourself choose between them, and you’ll likely stifle both.

Hire only for one and you’ll wish you hadn’t.
