Steve Haggerty was his name.

And he spoke with a thick, South African accent that I initially strained to understand.

He was on fire, a professor lit from within about his subject of Geology.

And I’d landed in his class fulfilling a requirement my sophomore year in college.

I never looked at the moon the same way again.

In my work with senior leaders, I’ve been known to say that’s it’s hard to inspire if we’re not inspired ourselves.  And passion is inspiration’s complement.

Put another way, passion is to inspiration as chocolate is to Valentine’s Day.

Simply necessary.

Some team members might be in your organization because they’re fulfilling any number of requirements.

True.

Light yourself on fire.  Watch it spread to those around you.

It’s possible they may never look at their work the same way again.
