Of all things not business and leadership related, delivered to you on this Monday morning.
Wearing:
These wool running tights for the colder months. Soft, warm, and cozy, they do not disappoint. And experimenting with this lighter base layer and heavier one. Also: these Gap jeans. Saw them on someone who’d seen them on someone. On they’re on sale.
Nibbling:
On this chocolate bar. Limited ingredient list and yummy. It’s my new favorite for every day.
Reading:
The stack is tall but at the top: Fiction and Non.
Baking:
Up a storm this last week for gifting, and even though I’ve used it forever, this vanilla still makes me swoon when I get a whiff.
Popping:
Using this. And then sprinkling with sea salt, butter, and freshly grated pecorino romano (trust me). So far, this popper has worked like a charm.
Loving:
This Vitamin C serum from Goop. Several of their products are among my go-to’s, and this serum has become another.
Giving:
To multiple charitable organizations. Joining the list this year: PAWS of War and Fistula Foundation.
Relying:
More and more on Melissa Clark’s recipes from the NYT (did you catch this Rosemary Shortbread recipe?) and her book, Dinner. The Anchovy Chicken recipe in that book is perfection, both in taste and ease of execution. And I know you might be wondering about the combination of anchovies with chicken, but try it. They just melt away into the background and support the combination of garlic and lemon and capers. I usually serve on a bed of arugula. Super delicious. Also, this Ina Garten chicken recipe sent from a client is also amaaaaazing.
Adding:
These cookbooks to the shelf: Claire Savitz’s Dessert Person, The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen, and Nicoise by Rosa Jackson. Jackson’s recipe for Zucchini Baked with Eggs and Goat Cheese was a standout this summer.
Blaring:
This Hannah Waddingham rehearsal session. The recording isn’t great but her voice is.
Catching:
Up with all of you and finally tuning in to Ted Lasso. Funny and poignant. Great show. Even if Roy and Keeley don’t ride off into the sunset together, dammit.
Scheduling:
Interview conversations for the 2025 Season of The Making Magnificence Project®. In the queue: Sherry Turkle and Jessica Baum, both from my wish list. Stay tuned, we’ve got a great season coming to you. And if there’s someone on your wish list for The Project, let me know.
Bringing:
100 homemade dog biscuits to this place over the holidays. Joyful. Last year, I hosted over NYE. And then adopted him (of course…). But if you’re local (and I know most of you receiving this are not), it’s a great way to enjoy time with a dog, love ‘em up, and give ‘em back. That was my plan, anyway.
Resolving and Returning:
To barre. A great complement to running and muscle building. But, wow, it’s gonna be rough going for a bit.
Visiting:
The studio of artisan couture jewelry designer and friend Christine Jones. By appointment only, you can view the gorgeous collection of gemstones and choose which you fall in love with. Then she’ll create a one-of-a kind piece for you. Any of the luminous pearls or unusually beautiful quartz I wear? That’s Christine’s handiwork.
Sipping:
This ginger turmeric tea. So warming and tasty with hints of orange and licorice. Also enjoying: this bourbon.
Investigating:
This travel app which is supposed to be very good. And this online store. I’ve purchased a pair of their leggings (my first, other than for running). So far, so good.
Counting:
