If you are running at a pace faster than fast, as my clients are, carving out strategic thinking time is not a luxury.

It’s a necessity.

If this seems impossible, start with 45 minutes a week, ask your admin to make it sacred, and hold to it.  What I see over and over again is a very high return for clients.

Common ways clients and I use this time together:

  • Assessing where you can delegate and offload work, with a keen eye toward work that someone else can take over because you’re no longer truly necessary to its success
  • Discerning your highest strategic priorities, value, and contribution
  • Looking at where you’re spending the bulk of your time in comparison to those priorities
  • Understanding who and what is needed for the execution of those priorities and setting in motion the conversations, meetings, and relationships required
