I first heard the term Listening Tour when I was interviewing Brad Wilson for The Making Magnificence Project®.  As the then CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, he wanted to get out into the field more and hear from team members on the front lines of the organization.  Tours were typically 90 minutes.

Brad spoke for 10.

For the remainder he answered questions.

And listened.

I’ve had three conversations in the last two days with leaders about the importance of team members being heard right now and being in front of them  — virtually — to listen.

Whether you call it a town hall meeting or a listening tour, there’s probably never been a better time to get in front of your people, hear what they’re saying, and provide a vision for the future.

Crisis is an opportunity to lead.
