When this was posted in December of 2019, there would be one more visit.  And then a year – and counting – without return.

More things to love about New York:

The spaghetti tomato basil at Scarpetta.

The view of the Statue of Liberty from Piano’s gorgeous Whitney.

The High Line in summer.

Hot ginger lemon tea from Le Pain to fortify for the long walk up, or down, town.

Matisse and Cezanne at MOMA.

The windows on Madison and 5th during the holidays, the stroll the rest of the year.

Cutting across 57th to peek at Dior, cutting through Washington Square Park and seeing dogs and people everywhere.

The hours-long wait at Russ and Daughters to order a bagel.

The longer wait for seasonal raspberry croissants at Pomme Palais.

Happy Valentine’s Day to the cities and places and people – known and not yet met — that will welcome us in the future.

And to the dreamers who long to see them.
